Boa constrictor occidentalis

Black boas of occidentalis subspecies are living in the most southern territory of the species Boa constrictor at all. They are living in such rough living conditions that for breeding and mating initialization is necessary to hibernate the snakes. Without hibernation will the spermatogenesis not run pass.

Boa constrictor occidentalis is not a small snake. Adult normally reach 3 meters of length. Snakes are very erratic and to breed this subspecies I can recommend only to serious interested persons. Neonates are ash grey pale, during puberty process obtaining contrast “lichenous” pattern. Dark color helps to get more heat from weak sun. Thanks to quick decreasing of Boa constrictors occidentalis in their natural range is this subspecies the only one in CITES 1. That brings the limits to the trade too. Thanks God.
